The survey showcases the trends 2014 in the scenario of Jobs in IT driven industries of software and networking in various platforms, technologies, salaries, perks, opportunities for freshers, areas of concern of the job seekers and major industrial compliances. The results comprehended here are based on the data collected from www.ipsrjobs.com with validation of the results with NASSCOM and IDC. The finding bring latest updates to the techies for defining their spaces in the prospective industry, the major findings reads:
2014 has left with signs of tremendous growth in IT Job market .The No. of Vacancies reported, Recruitment Drives happened and No. of Selection happened, all shows a steep growth as compared to 2013.
In 2014 , there was a clear movement of Jobs from Software to Networking and related technologies. The No. of vacancies reported in Networking (especially Linux) has shown steep growth. Even most of the Top IT Companies in India like TCS (Nest Step) and Wipro (WASE) recruited Degree students mainly for Infrastructure Management (RIM/ IMS) and related jobs. It is attributed by the fact that 90% of servers in the World nowadays runs in Linux platform.
In Linux itself, It was CLOUD the clear Winner. The trend seen was in tune with the IDC report that Cloud Computing will generate 2.3 Million new Jobs in India in 2015. It was interesting to note that, maximum vacancies was reported in Cloud Computing followed by Server Support, Security , Data centre , Virtualization , Data Storage etc .
In software, Php was the leading Technology, in terms of the No. of vacancies reported, followed by .Net . Lot of vacancies were reported in Anroid / IOS also, but there were fever applicants. Vacancies reported in Java was less, but there were more candidates to apply.
IT Companies are expecting the same kind of service from the fresher as they are getting from 1-2 years experienced person. Since they don’t want to spend on training for the fresher’s ,they are looking for Trained Freshers . There was a big gap in Demand and Supply. Even with 15 Lakh plus engineers passing out from Indian Universities, every year, there was a scarcity of Trained Freshers . Most of the students lack Employability skills – Both Soft and Hard Skills. IT companies were looking for trained Freshers or students who have done Internships or live project experience . The Gap was huge in case of IOS / Android. Hence, lot of vacancies remain unfilled throughout the Year (See Graph)
Salary package also has shown improvement. There are companies even offered a salary of 3.2 lakh per annum for RHCE certified Freshers.
By 2014 end, companies has stared recruiting 2015 batch students also through ipsrjobs.com . Major recruiters include UST Global and Experion technologies, both from Technopark / Inforpark.
Companies also complaint about lack of seriousness among candidates. The students need to be more focused and should have a better understanding of the “Whole” Picture. It is not just academic performance what matters. Companies are looking for candidates with Good Attitude, Passion for Technology and Commitment. It was seen that candidates with handicaps like Back papers, Low percentage of marks, Academic gap, Non IT background etc, but with right attitude and passion get selected by IT Companies.
