From Literature Graduate to Associate Systems Engineer: Akash’s RHCSA Journey with IPSR

The Turning Point: Choosing a Technical Path

With a degree in Literature and no formal IT work experience, Akash faced a reality many fresh graduates know well: strong communication skills but a lack of technical credentials to break into a growth-oriented career.

“My job hunt in the UAE was a humbling experience. Communication and soft skills alone did not fetch me a job where I could grow. The lack of hard technical skills was the con.”

Determined to pivot into technology, Akash drew on his familiarity with Linux. He had been a Linux desktop user since 2019, which also catalysed his choice of Red Hat certifications. His research led him to RHCSA, valued for its practical focus and strong industry reputation.

Finding the Right Partner for the Journey

Akash was clear that he wanted to learn from an authorised and credible training partner.

“I searched for the best institutes offering Linux and system administration training, specifically looking for an authorised Red Hat associate. After checking YouTube, Reddit, and other social platforms, I found IPSR to be highly professional and trustworthy.”

The decision to join was sealed after interacting with IPSR Kochi’s front office team.

“The firm’s reputation and my interaction with front staff at IPSR Kochi gave me much-needed clarity.”

Inside the IPSR Learning Experience

Akash’s classes were led by Shyam Sebastian, whose teaching approach became a highlight of the journey.

“The classes always aimed to have clarity and simplicity. Shyam Sebastian sir’s classes were excellent.”

The training went beyond theory, with practical exercises, real-world scenarios, and rewatchable LMS content that became a vital revision tool.

“Classes and practice sessions were enough for revision… LMS had the classes as re-watchable videos I can re-refer to.”

• Command line navigation, scripting, troubleshooting, SELinux, firewall management
• Containerization with Podman
• Network services like NFS and NTP
• Ansible automation for managing multiple nodes

From Classroom to Career

The transition from training to employment was swift, thanks to IPSR’s placement support.

“I found the posting through the placement cell’s TG page… I believe I was contacted by the HRs after the placement cell forwarded my resume.”

In July 2025, Akash joined E Team Informatica as an Associate Systems Engineer, a role that directly draws on his RHCSA skills.

“It provided me with a much-needed foundation.”

RHCSA and the Promise it Brings

The RHCSA certification is recognised by FutureSkills Prime, a NASSCOM initiative backed by the Government of India, as a benchmark for industry-relevant, job-ready skills in Linux system administration.

Akash sees RHCSA not as the end but as the gateway to more advanced roles in Linux, automation, and infrastructure.

“RHCSA is the entryway. In the future, I will switch to more advanced roles in Linux/automation/infrastructure areas.”
