Twitter Introduces Voice Recordings in DMs

 The social media giant has launched a new feature that would help the users of Twitter to send voice recordings within direct messages sent while chatting. The current feature is not something new to the social media users, as many messaging platforms like Whatsapp, Signal & photo-sharing platforms like Instagram had provided their customers with sharing of voice recording while sending direct messages. But when microblogging sites like Twitter come up with such features it becomes the talk of the town.

Twitter’s strength has always been real-time. With the incorporation of new features, it will make Twitter more user-friendly and more appealing to its users. The product team designed an in-line recording experience to to send these messages as part of the natural conversation flow. The new feature has been launched in India, Brazil, Japan where it wishes to have substantial growth soon with Japan & India ranking second & third in terms of the number of Twitter users.

To open itself to more diverse users

Twitter being a microblogging social media platform and its wide user network which consists of all important personalities of the world is a swift platform for dissemination of information. It helps to share ideas, news in real-time. The incorporation of voice recordings will help the users to communicate among themselves regarding various information they have, which will in turn help in the formation of more filtered tweets from its users.

Breaking the language barrier

Even though twitter provides the feature to use various languages according to the user’s preference for sending tweets. The addition of the new feature helps its users to share information & send messages in the native language even if they don’t know the type well. The feature will also help in breaking the language barriers and increasing globalization.

More welcoming to vision-impaired users

With the coming of the voice recording feature, vision-impaired users can send their messages to peers at ease. The feature helps to engage them with the tweet content. This in turn will increase the number of Twitter users. Audio tweets have added more ways for vision-impaired users to engage with Twitter content. Vision impaired users can also engage with dm voice chats. While they could also help to reduce the language barriers, As it can sometimes speaking a language is easier than it is to write.

Brand usage considerations

Twitter is one of the most important platforms used by businesses for sharing information, advertisements, and connecting with their customer network. Being so, the new feature will help the brands in recording informational audio clips, which could be used for answering common customer queries, etc. The process allows users to record an audio clip and can then be sent as a message. audio clips in Direct messages could serve more additional services, and become a more valuable option. A key benefit of adding voice recordings is that it opens Twitter up to more people of varying capacities.

Increasing the presence of twitter

With every social media platform diversifying its services to its users,  Twitter also cannot step back from following trends. Started as a microblogging platform, today they are more than just a simple microblogging platform. With world leaders, celebrities, businesses using the platform, it is required of Twitter to give additional services to the customers, thereby increasing the number of Twitter users and thereby increasing the revenue of the company.

On the arrival of voice, the people’s engagement with Twitter rate will increase. when it comes to technical limitation Voice recordings in Direct Messages can be up to 140-seconds long, the same as voice tweets the feature is only in Japan, India, and Brazil, while the functionality is currently only available on iOS. Twitter says that voice tweets will be coming to Android and the web at the end of this year but we hope the feature may have a broader rollout in the future, even though Twitter has not released any official announcement regarding the same.
