Red Hat Application Development I: Programming in Java EE

Learn to write, deploy and test Java EE applications

Introduction

Java is powering 1.5 billion devices around the world.  The programming language is crucial to both the academic market as well as the enterprise, proven by the estimated 18.5 million Java developers worldwide.

Java Standard Edition (JSE), is the Java programming language that provides the core functionality of the applications.  Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) is essential to running mission-critical applications and is built on top of the JSE platform. While Java SE instruction is common in universities, Java EE is not as widely taught.

Red Hat Training is now offering a new four-day course, Red Hat Application Development I: Programming in Java EE (JB183).  In this course, students will transform a simple Java SE command line application into a multi-tiered enterprise application using the essential Java EE specifications.  Students will gain a strong foundation for creating modern, secure, database-backed Java EE 7 web services and applications. For those entering the workforce, this course provides relevant, commercial JEE skills sought by employers; for experienced professionals, this course provides “just enough JEE” to support development using other frameworks that interface with JEE applications.

This course introduces core concepts of multi-tiered Java Enterprise applications and gives the student experience writing, deploying, and testing Java EE applications. Students will use various tools from the Red Hat JBoss middleware portfolio, including Developer Studio, Maven, and the Red Hat JBoss Enterprise Application Platform application server.

 

Learning Pathway

The new curriculum, beginning with JB183, a more holistic overview of Java and begins by teaching the transition of Java SE to Java EE.  The next course in this learning path is the Red Hat Application Development II: Implementing Microservices Architectures, JB283, which will complement the skills taught in JB183 and give the student a much more hands on coding experience.

This course is available in all modes of training – Classroom, Virtual Training, Online Learning, with the Red Hat Learning Subscription (RHLS) and the Red Hat Academy portfolio.
