Introduction to Containers, Kubernetes and Red Hat OpenShift (DO180) for OpenShift v3.9

 

Introduction

As any Red Hatter or partners knows “Containers are Linux”, and the Introduction to Containers, Kubernetes, and Red Hat OpenShift (DO180) course has proven that the market agrees. Since its initial release, this course quickly soared to the top of Red Hat’s emerging technology portfolio.

This update focuses on bringing the course from Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.5 to Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 3.9. By updating to the latest release of the platform, running on RHEL 7.5, you are able to use an installed cluster in the exercises as opposed to a containerized cluster. Jira defects were also addressed by this update.

This entry into both OpenShift Developer and OpenShift Administrator learning paths is a required starting point for anyone with an RHCSA looking to begin their organization’s digital transformation. Today, digital transformation is a market requirement. Because of time pressures under the previous version of DO180, the new version of this course has moved from two to three days of delivery. This has allowed for the expanded coverage on the usage of a real OpenShift cluster and user-defined networks.

Technical Overview

The primary technical changes to this course include the following:

  • Upgraded the classroom to OpenShift 3.9 running on RHEL 7.5
  • The exercises use an installed cluster as opposed to a containerized cluster (oc cluster up)
  • Deprecated topics have been replaced, such as docker linking being replaced with user-defined networking
  • Numerous Jira defects have been verified and fixedTraining Modes
